Serving Our City

Compassion

Compassion is at the heart of all Vineyard churches. We seek to demonstrate God’s love through generosity, dignity and practical care, empowering people to grow in confidence and reach their full potential.

Inspired by the example of Jesus, we believe compassion means more than sympathy. It means walking alongside people in need, serving with humility, and meeting practical, emotional, spiritual and relational needs.

Compassion looks different in every community. It may be providing food, clothing or furniture, supporting families with baby equipment, helping refugees settle into homes, or offering hospitality and care to those experiencing homelessness. Every act, big or small, reflects God’s love in action.

Our heart is to build meaningful relationships, create welcoming community, and empower people toward hope, dignity and independence.

We believe that when we care for those in need, we are serving Christ himself and bringing light, healing and hope to our communities.

Below are some ways that we’re serving our city.

  • BS4 FOODBANK

Field has joined with Severn Church to set up a Foodbank to arrange, sort and deliver food parcels to people in need within Bristol.

We are currently delivering food boxes in the BS4, Knowle West and Filwood area.

The Food Bank runs out of The Harbour in Totterdown and is a great opportunity to help people and be a blessing to the community.

  • BRIDGES FOR COMMUNITIES

Bridges for Communities connects people of different cultures and faiths, enabling them to build friendships and grow in their understanding of one another.

Through these connections and experiences, we seek to inspire and equip people to become active agents of change, building a more cohesive society where people are better neighbours, newcomers feel more welcome and cities are more inclusive.

  • CHRISTIANS AGAINST POVERTY

We are thrilled to be working in partnership with Severn Vineyard and the brilliant charity “Christians Against Poverty”.

If you have a heart to see people set free from poverty and see Jesus bring hope into hopelessness, then becoming a befriender might be just the thing for you! A befriender assists the Debt Coach manager by simply going into people’s homes, talking and praying with them.
